Pet wellness is our business. Proper health is important to our pets, humans they are in contact with and the community.   From Puppies and kittens to senior care, we can help you keep your pet feeling good and enjoying their life at every stage.  We follow appropriate recommendations of the American Veterinary Medical Association, current protocols recommended by research and work within both manufacturer guidelines and legal requirements.

Annual Examination visits are like people going to the doctor every seven years.  Many pets, especially senior pets enjoy better health when seen twiice a year.  Annual visits will include a thorough physical examination from nose to tail, vaccinations to prevent Rabies and other diseases.  Other vaccinations and annual testing that are appropriate for your pet will be recommended.  Heartworm Disease, Kennel Cough, Distemper, Parvo, Feline Leukemia, Lyme Disease, Flu are easily preventable and limit expensive, difficult treatments.  Screening and treatment for intestinal parasites is recommended to limit risks for your pet and human family.

Flea and Tick Control are an important part of your pet and your human family enjoying a pleasant life.  We offer a variety of preventative and treatment products that will protect your pet & family.  We recommend following the instructions of the manufacturer and reading the information provided.  Products may work on the active infestation or require biting the animal to ingest the toxin or work on the larvae.  If you understand how the product works you will be prepared for expectation of successfful protection.  Some products can be used together to provide multiple forms of protection.  Some are Over the Counter Medications and some require prescription of your DVM.

Diagnosis and Treatment Evaluation of current health, illness and injury, we may use evaluation of current conditions with a thorough examination, wellness and annual exams appropriate for the age and condition of the pet, x-ray, bloodtest screening, laboratory tests, and utilize specialists resources, as needed.

Surgery is provided using quality anesthetic and monitoring with IV fusion pumps.  We always recommend and may require Pre Anesthetic Blood work screening, IV Catheter & Fluids and provide pain management because it is the right thing to do.  Patients are treated as individuals, continuously monitored during and after surgery, as well as owners given complete recovery instructions with post surgery expectations, follow up care instructions and recommendations regarding when it is appropriate to reevaluate.

Spay Neuter Recommendations We strongly encourage spay/neuter procedures to reduce individual pet health risks, control over population of unwanted animals and senseless euthanasia, while protecting the community from feral populations.

Dental Care is highly recommended to prevent pain, behavior problems, good nutrition, quality of life and serious infections that can move throughout the body.  We use a high speed dental machine & experienced trained staff.  Douglas Oaks staff will help you learn simple and effective methods and products to help your pet maintain oral health.

Nutrition is an important part of pet health and well being.  Many pets have specific health conditions and/or food allergies that require prescription diet or food trials. We offer Royal Canine as a quality pet food meeting the individual health needs of pets while being tasty to your pets.  Proper weight management through nutritional guidance is a high priority!

Behavior is often unique to each pet.  Many pets have challenges. We offer suggestions from experience and resources for solutions.  Just ask!
