Quality Care... with Compassion !
DOUGLAS OAKS ANIMAL HOSPITAL TEAM! Anne Hallmark is a long time smiling face of Douglas Oaks. Her latest responsibility is as office guru. She has been part of the Douglas Oaks Team and our in house practical jokester since 1996. Wow! She likes it very much, saying “I like the different variety of animals and different experiences every day! I enjoyed working with Dr. Morgan for many years and I enjoy working with Dr. Gallagher, as well as the Douglas Oaks Team!" Anne is also known as the fastest driver of the Douglas Oaks Team! Anne’s pet care tip: It is easy to keep harmony between cat and dog families. With both indoor /outdoor cats and rescued Doberman Pinchers I know it is a delicate balance, my trick is individual time with each. Toni Rayburn is one of the smiling faces of the reception team. A commuter from Bowden, she is happy to be working in Douglasville, AKA “the big city”. Look for her smiling face when you check in with your pet. Toni’s pet care tip: Working behind the scenes of an animal hospital has shown me how important good records are. Always travel with a copy of your pet’s rabies certificate and prescriptions. Nikki Snow-King is one of the smiling faces of the reception team. She is another or our long time familiar friendly faces at Douglas Oaks. Nikki says, "I love working in a place that allows me to utilize my two great passions in life, people and animals." I am the proud parent of three, including a rambunctious bird dog named Russert, a ditzy yellow lab named Miracle and a sulky cat named Rainbow. Nikki’s pet care tip: Please spay and neuter your pets! I see so many puppies and kittens I wish I could take home. The overpopulation of animals in our area can be addressed with responsible spaying and neutering. Vicki Cagle, a local Veterinary Receptionist Legend, joined us in 2010. We are so happy to welcome her, as she remembers everyone & their pet history without a computer. She adds her gentle voice and kind compassion to everything she does. Her home has kitties of all stages and a couple of canines round out the mix. So many people say, "I am SO glad Vicki is here! Knowing she is here, I feel confident & comfortable!" Vicki’s pet care tip: With aging pets at home, I am glad senior wellness blood screens are available to help monitor that my pets are getting older gracefully. Haley Cochran is head Veterinary Assistant here at Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital. When she is not busy at work, you can find her spending quality time with her 3 children. Look out during Girl Scout cookie season; you might leave with more than just your pet’s prescription refill! Haley’s pet care tip: I like to get up close and cuddle with my dogs at home and I know puppy breath does not have to be a bad thing. By brushing your pet’s teeth 3 times a week you can prevent dental disease and other resulting health problems. Jessica Dobbins lends experience to the Veterinary Assistant team. With 8 years of hands on care with animals, she is thrilled to be settled in at Douglas Oaks. Outside of work you are sure to see Jessie at the local ball fields cheering on her kids. Jessie’s pet care tip: Families with young children should be sure to know their pet’s intestinal parasite status as there are a few which can be transmitted to your family. Regular parasite screens of your pets stool can help make sure your family is protected. Nathan Cochran is an enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant who came into the career feet first. He has transitioned into animal care easily and feels he brings patience and understanding into the exam room every day. Nathan’s pet care tip: As a busy dad, I have to save time wherever I can. That is why I love to inform people about the safety and convenience of Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital’s online pharmacy. Casie Perrien works as a Veterinary Assistant between her studies as a nursing student. Her sensitivity and kindness in nursing extends through into her gentle care and handling of your pet. Casie’s pet care tip: I recently adopted a stray and had to go through the heartbreak of heart worm treatment with him. He is happy and healthy now but it is especially sad because I know how easy it is to prevent. Please remember your heart worm prevention every 30 days. In dogs and cats, we want to stop this killer. Jen Krumwiede is the newest member to join the Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital Veterinary Assistant team. She has traveled the south east and is glad to be settled in the Douglasville area. When not at work at Douglas Oaks, she is managing her start up pet sitting business. Jen’s pet care tip: I like for people to understand puppy visits are more than vaccines. Regular exams at the time of vaccines help the doctor know how your little one is maturing and we can help you address behavior changes before they become a problem. Craig Richardson is a veterinary assistant. He splits his time between Douglas Oaks and the University of West Ga. with graduation just around the corner. Craig’s sense of humor keeps us all on our toes! Craig’s pet care tip: It breaks my heart to see pets end up in shelters while their family is out searching for them. Micro chipping works as a permanent identification that helps return hundreds of pets to their homes annually. Ashland Rhodes is one of our dedicated kennel staff members. She has recently decided to change her direction in life by moving from studies in animal sciences to nursing. Her compassion for animals is evident in the time and care she puts into each boarding pet here at Douglas Oaks. Ashland’s pet care tip: Monthly flea prevention (either topical or oral) not only keeps your pet happy and healthy but can eliminate the suffering of chronic itch! I keep this from being a problem by remembering to apply Frontline Plus every 30 days. Joey Berger is one of our dedicated kennel staff members. He works diligently to make sure our cat and dog guests are comfortable and have the care they need. As the only member of our staff to not have a pet of his own he makes sure to get his fill of pet attention during his time at work. Joey’s pet care tip: Being with the dogs and cats all day I know the importance of going the extra mile, literally. Exercise is a key part of keeping your pet a healthy weight. Jane Gallagher loves her role as office manager of Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital. She has found the perfect outlet to combine her passion, her creativity, and her life experiences as a dog enthusiast and lover. Jane’s pet care tip: Early socialization in key to a happy dog. After vaccines, it is time to get your little one out in the world meeting people and pets in safe, controlled situations.
The most important element in determining the quality of any Veterinary Hospital is the Team.
We have knowledgeable and experienced staff from the entrance to the kennel. Many of our team are long time career employees and we have added some fresh faces to Douglas Oaks too.
Our caring Doctors are very kind, intelligent and dedicated to continuing education.
They are personable, smart, funny and truly compassionate!
Dr. Mike Gallagher enjoyed visiting family in the Atlanta area so much, that he wanted to stay at the practice Dr. Morgan started. He grew up outside the Chicago and St. Louis areas. Dr. G spent four years in the US Navy. He aced the Pre Med program at Washington University, one of the most academically challenging medical schools in the country. After his third year, he chose to move toward veterinary medicine after enjoying his part-time work at an area vet hospital. He was selected to receive the only scholarship offered to applicants for the first year of Veterinary School from the University of Missouri at Columbia. There he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He was the honored as the sole recipient of two separate awards, the Award for Proficiency for Small Animal Surgery and the Award for Proficiency in Small Animal Internal Medicine. He has been helping animals ever since. He and his wife, Real Estate Broker & Douglas Oaks Greeter, Jane, currently have a small furry family. Be, "Evergrace's Definite MayBe," a senior Golden Retriever. Holly, was a kitten rescued on one of their son's duck hunting trips. Evan recently graduated from Eastern Illinois University. The Gallagher's have been converted to fans of everything Georgia, except for a lifelong loyalty to the St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Champions!
Dr. Jeanette Hobby has been with Douglas Oaks Animal Hospital since June 2010. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She hails from South Carolina and spent many of her Saturdays during her undergraduate studies cheering "Go TIGERS" at Clemson University as part of "The Band that Shakes the Southland." When moving to the Peach State, Dr. Hobby brought her Mississippi mutt, Mollie, with her two cats, Matt and Maggie. She & Mollie enjoy the many outdoor activities the Douglasville area offers. Dr. Hobby is thrilled to be part of such a great team and happy to be putting her education and experience into action at Douglas Oaks!
Our experienced team in reception, veterinary assistants or pet nurses and kennel staff all provide phenomenal care.
